David Hosking

Chief General Manager

David Hosking commenced with Allianz Australia Limited in April 2008 and in June 2009 was appointed as Chief Financial Officer.  Since July 2014, he has been responsible for the Broker and Agency division of Allianz including Hunter Premium Funding and Allianz’s operations in New Zealand.

David has twenty years’ experience in the insurance industry holding a number of senior roles. Prior to commencing with Allianz, David was with IAG for over nine years in a variety of senior roles including Head of Australia Financial Services, CFO Asia and Group Management Accountant. He commenced his career in chartered accountancy, followed by a number of years at FAI Insurance, and has worked overseas in both the UK and Asia.

David is a Chartered Accountant and has a MBA from Sydney University.  He is also a Director to a number of subsidiaries within the Allianz Australia Group.

James Orchard

Executive General Manager – Innovation

James is the Executive General Manager, Innovation for IAG, responsible for the incubation and co-creation of new products, services and business models. Appointed to the role in March 2016, James has primary responsibility for driving innovation across IAG and the communities in which we operate. In his role, he collaborates closely with universities, research organisations, start-ups and corporate partners to identify new opportunities for growth. 

Steven Raynor

Chief Operating Officer
QBE Australia & New Zealand

Steven has more than 15 years’ experience in business process improvement and business intelligence, with a proven background in leading national operations and strategic procurement teams. He joined QBE in 2005 and has worked across several business units to drive business transformation. Steven took on the Chief Operating Officer (COO) role in 2017. Prior to joining QBE, Steven worked as a Business Process Improvement Manager in telecommunications, using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to drive enhancements. Steven is a qualified Chemical and Process Engineer with experience in manufacturing engineering and project management. He is also MBA qualified and has trained in the business improvement techniques of Statistical Process Control and Six Sigma.

Melisande Waterford

General Manager – Licensing

Melisande Waterford leads APRA’s centralised licensing unit, established in July 2017. Melisande has been with APRA for nearly 20 years in a wide variety of roles spanning strategy and performance; policy roles from conglomerates, crisis management, insurance and superannuation as well as technical roles and time as a frontline supervisor. Melisande also served on the secretariat for the Financial System Inquiry in 2014.

Dr Tony Carter 

Chief Underwriting Officer

Tony serves as the Chief Underwriting Officer for the SLE Group with responsibility for: compliance; production pipelines; risk selection, policy conditions, premium pricing; staff education; reporting. Having consulted to the SLE Group since 2003, Tony was employed by the SLE Group as Risk Analyst and Statistician on a full-time basis in 2010 to work collaboratively with a diverse range of clients across the spectrum of the insurance industry. Prior to working at the SLE Group, Tony was the Occupational Health Research Fellow at James Cook University in Townsville from 2000 to 2009. Tony holds a Doctorate in Public Health from James Cook University, a Masters Degree in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from The University of Newcastle, and a Bachelor of Applied Science from The University of Sydney.

Tim Johnson

Head of Insurance Operations Delivery

Tim Johnson has been with Suncorp for over 10 years and led operations teams and large technology programs for most of that time.  He currently leads the Operations Delivery team for Suncorp’s Insurance Arm which includes launching the Automation capability for Suncorp Insurance.  Prior to Suncorp and a few years consulting Tim spent 14 years in the Army as a Combat Engineering Officer.  Tim graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science and later in his career completed his MBA through Deakin.

Laura Kalomiris

Operations Director

Laura Kalomiris is the Director of Operations at Trōv Inc. Australia, the company reinventing insurance for the mobile generation by making it simple, flexible and transparent.

Coming from a deep background in insurance, Laura has extensive experience working with some of Australia's largest insurance companies including Suncorp and Hollard, in multiple roles across claims, process improvement and supply chain management.

With a Bachelor of International Business and a MBA in Business Administration under her belt, Laura brings a wealth of knowledge to her role. She is passionate about transforming the insurance and give them the power to insure just what they want, entirely from their mobile device.

Eoghan Trehy

With 20 years’ experience in the banking and financial services sector, including three at Macquarie, he is driven by continual opportunities to learn more about the industries he serves, and his teams ability to provide a holistic banking partnership for clients.Since 2015, Eoghan has lead the team in charge of business strategy for the Insurance broking segment and adjacent markets, delivering original ideas and specialist solutions tailored for the industry, providing market insights and helping clients achieve their growth aspirations.

Eoghan is excited by the potential of his team to adapt to the changing landscape of the insurance industry. His industry expertise and insights into insurtech enable him to help clients transform in this digital age. Emma Curtis is Group Senior Manager - Insurance, in the Australian Securities and Investments Commission's stakeholder team - Deposit Takers, Credit and Insurers (DCI), and manages a team of managers and specialists. Prior to joining ASIC in 2009, Emma held senior in-house legal roles in various financial services firms engaged in banking, life and general insurance, and funds management. Emma has practised as a lawyer for over 20 years, working in a prominent Sydney law firm, and then moving into senior in-house legal and compliance roles.

Nicholle Lindner

His past positions include Head of Transformation and Head of Operations, Hollard Insurance Australia as well as Chief Operating Officer, Innovation Group North America.

Initially qualified as a medical scientist, Aamer has over 14 years of insurance expertise, spanning digital innovation, design thinking, insurance medicine, actuarial research and risk management. Aamer’s research expertise includes artificial intelligence, social and healthcare robotics, human augmentation and other emerging technological trends. Aamer holds two medical science degrees from the University of Otago, a graduate business degree from the University of New South Wales, and is also a graduate of the University of Oxford’s Fintech Programme.
